Ok, so this is pretty much copy and pasted from a post I made on another social networking site.

*****************

I've got a sociology class this semester, and I have to do a visual presentation relating to a social issue, and based on an after class conversation with the professor I've been assigned a multi-fold subject.

Body Image / Beauty Standards / Pornography

Basically the Body Image is a "trouble," an individual level thing, it ties into the social "issue" of Beauty Standards, and ties into the epidemic comprised of what people do to meet those standards, and how along with the changes in Beauty Standards, the deviant nature of Pornography has changed.

I'm going to take B&W photos of Marilyn Monroe, and perhaps Bettie Page, along with an image or two of an old fertility goddess statue, and combine them with photos I need to take.

I need some women (I've got in mind about three to four body types) with varied body types to model for a plain, simple nude photo taken from the front in front of a white background.

And I need to take some abstract photos of someone with a turtleneck, ring neck, and relatively low v-neck shirt, as well as long sleeves and sleeveless. And to show some ankle and a leg.

I'm going to blur faces (even Marilyn's face) and erase identifying marks, and everything is going to be B&W and grainy. I'm going to ask questions like, "which of these are beautiful?" and bring every woman (the statues are exempt) to the same level of presentation in order to encourage people to discard their biases.

I'm going to use the abstract photos to show what was considered scandalous (the pornographic aspect of the paper) and how that standard has changed without actually having to put what is currently considered pornography on my visual presentation.

So if anyone is willing to help or possibly willing and wanting more info, please contact me via email or cell phone.

The presentation itself is worth 1/10th of my grade for this class, and the accompanying journal entries and such contribute towards an additional 2/10ths of my grade, so depending on how much additional paperwork ties into the visual presentation, this could be up to ONE THIRD of my total grade for this class.

I could really use some volunteers.

I have one volunteer and one backup. I still need more help!!

I've gotten myself a new skillet, one I can cook things with and build pan sauces. Things like Steak au Poivre and the cognac and cream sauce that goes with it.

It's a whole new area of cooking I've never explored before, so expect to see some photos of food.

My next photographic acquisition is going to be a Sony 50mm f1.4 lens. I can hardly wait to have it!

Or rather, Merry F*%$ing Christmas!!

I'm not normally one for being politically correct because I share George Carlin's views on euphamisms, but I'd like to wish you all, my friends and watchers, a very merry day, irregardless of what you're celebrating.

That's all for now.

PS, I'm kinda sad that I got no responses from anyone about my thought-provoking Robocop questions.

LIST PRIME DIRECTIVES

1: SERVE THE PUBLIC TRUST
2: PROTECT THE INNOCENT
3: UPHOLD THE LAW

Just to provoke some thoughts here, those of you that have seen the first movie, when you watched it, did you consider what it brought to the table in terms of social commentary, or as a morality play? Did it make you examine what exactly is it that makes us human; and how much of our humanity is dependant upon our flesh? How much of our flesh do we need to have to still be human? If you're male, did it make you question what it means to be a man, in terms of your actions, motives, loss of your physicality, and your emotional needs? If you're female, did you stop and think, what if RoboCop had started as a woman? Or was Murphy's gender unimportant in terms of what he experienced and the questions I've posed?

I decided to put the four-part Prime Directives mini-series on my Christmas list, and in thinking about RoboCop, I'm more able at this point in my life, to evaluate what it brings to the table beyond mere entertainment value, and I thought I'd pose some questions. None of you *have* to answer, but I would like you to consider the questions all the same.

Idle Speculation

I suppose I'll get flamed in some way for saying this, but I feel I need to make my observations public in some way.

I like DMZ's )DarkMatterZone's) work as a photographer, don't get me wrong, and I like Annicia's work as a model too.

But I find myself amused that at least twice now, although the other model's username escapes me, a DMZ model has created an account and posted wonderful stories about their experience(s) with him, that in my opinion, seem written by the same person.

Oddly enough, it also seems that when DMZ posts an image, almost immediately, as quick as a person could log out of one account and into another, the model account has the same image posted.

Now I'm fully aware that it could all be a vast series of coincidences, but it's still thought-provoking because it seems almost like it's DMZ creating these other accounts and writing the stories and uploading the content...and singing his own praises.

Don't just blindly accept my sleep-deprived speculation as fact though.
Go check out the galleries of :icondarkmatterzone: and :iconannicia: and check out the data appended to the photos regarding when they were uploaded, and read the journals to see if the prose seems similar.
If you're curious, you could also check out one of the other model accounts, and see if they've been active with work from other photographers or since DMZ has stopped posting their images on his account.

Like I said, I like DMZ's work, this just seems really really odd to me.

Well, Tsubasacon 2008 just finished...and I had fun.

I was a co-presenter on two Panels alongside ~SailorKnightWing and was one of the official photographers alongside ~Lolitadoll305.

We had a studio set up in the Vendor's Room that I manned, and I got a lot of really good shots, and a few great ones. I also managed to do two "private" shoots and three special shoots in the studio. Samples from those three have been posted in my gallery.

In other news, I've decided that my next photography acquisition will be a Sony 50mm f1.4 lens.

~SailorKnightWing has designed me some lovely business cards, all that's left is to print them.

Oh yeah, I also went to WDW since my last Journal entry. It was a blast and I'll probably post some "food porn."

Edit: For some random reason, despite copy\pasting the code from one journal entry to this one, some of my stamps no longer work. Any ideas why?

Edit2: I took the malfunctioning stamp links out of my journal and put a few new ones in, so I guess it's all taken care of. I still wish I knew what went wrong.
